What’s the warranty

Your Avia smartlock comes with a two year world wide warranty.

Is the lock weatherproofed?

The lock is designed to be 'housed' inside the external door and so has no need to be weatherproofed. However, it has an IP54 rating which protects against liquid spray and solid objects.

Can I use the lock outside?

The lock is designed to be as secure as possible and is only suitable to be 'housed' internally on an external door. The lock is not weatherproof and should not be used outside (garden gates etc).

Can I still open my door manually with my physical key?

Yes. The Avia secure smart lock uses your existing euro cylinder lock which means you can use your traditional physical key in the usual way if you want to, and it can also be used as an emergency back-up system too.

What tools do I need to install the Avia secure smart lock?

You only need a flat head screw driver and a Phillips headed screw driver. It really is a simple as that.

How do I install the Avia secure smart lock?

Functionality
Does my phone need an ‘active’ sim card?

Yes, to be fully functional an active sim card is required.

How do I find my lock’s serial number?

The locks serial number is located on the back of the safety instruction booklet and begins with the letters S/N and is 16 characters. You can also find it on the back plate of the lock.

Does Avia work with Android phones?

Avia only works with iOs. We are currently investigating an Android version.

Will I still be able to use my traditional physical key?

Yes, and your traditional physical key can also be used as an emergency back up system too.

Does the lock work with the Apple Watch?

The Apple Watch can be used with the Avia secure smart lock via the Apple HomeKit app. You'll need your iPhone (the 'parent') to pair with the lock. Fobs, other iPhones and Apple Watches etc. can become users (referred to as 'children').

How secure is Avia and is it PAS 24:2016 compliant?

The Avia secure smart lock was the first smart lock to be tested accredited by Sold Secure which is administered by the Mater Locksmiths Association. Avia was the first smart lock to gain the prestigious the BSI Internet of things Verified – Residential IoT accreditation. Avia was the first smart lock in the world to be accredited with the European TS 103 645 consumer IoT security technical specification by the European Standard Telecommunications Institute (ETSI). Avia was the first ever some lock for lever operated multipoint locking doors to be be approved by Apple HomeKit. Avia was successfully tested and accredited in reference to the UK Accreditation service building regulations and achieved PAS 24:2016 The euro cylinder that the Avia secure smart lock uses has achieved Secured by Design accreditation and Sold secure diamond status.

What happens my phone is stolen?

iOS provides tools to help you locate your phone and if need be disable it. If your phone cannot be located, you’ll need to contact your network provider to organise a replacement and regain access to your phone number. In addition, simply log into your icloud account (www.icloud.com) and select ‘find my iPhone’.

You will also still be able to access your property by using your fob, keypad (via Bluetooth®) or original key.

You can also deactivate Avia if needed.

What happens if I lose my phone?

What’s stopping a previous key holder gaining access without permission?

The Avia secure smart lock allows you to issue digital keys to any number of visitors on a temporary or permanent basis. The Avia app allows you total control over access and also has a complete audit trail allowing you to track all lock activity.

If I’m at home, and so my phone is connected with the lock, and a stranger calls, will the door automatically unlock?

The Avia secure smart lock uses advanced proprietary techniques that prevents false unlocks. The unlock assist feature is optional and can be disabled at any time.

Can I receive notifications about lock activity?

Yes, you can receive notifications about lock activity on your phone, even when the traditional physical key is used.

Can someone put their hand through the letterbox and open the door?

You can purchase an anti-fishing letterbox which removes opportunist attacks. In addition you can simply disable the functionality of the halo button.

How will I know when the batteries need replacing?

There is a low battery life warning on the app, In addition the lock will give an audible low battery life warning.

Can I use rechargeable batteries in my Avia secure smart lock?

No. The lock only works with non rechargeable lithium batteries.

What happens if I allow my batteries to run flat?

The lock still allows you to use your existing traditional manual key to gain entry.

What happens if there is an internet or power outage?

The Avia secure smart lock is 100% battery operated and you can always communicate with the lock via Bluetooth® and the traditional key.

What about my home insurance?

The Avia secure smart lock comes complete with a three star euro cylinder - which is the most secure cylinder available. It should not affect your home insurance however, we would advise you to check with your home insurance company.
